Partnering Temasek Foundation and the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, this initiative will see the participation of well-known local heritage brands adopting pods that bear heritage themes and feature thoughtfully curated messages and content.
To celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday and World Breastfeeding Week, maternal care social enterprise Go!Mama, in partnership with Temasek Foundation and the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), has announced plans to roll out 60 new heritage-themed lactation pods in public places across the country. This new Pods of Impact initiative builds on Go!Mama’s vision for a more family-friendly Singapore by providing dedicated, publicly accessible spaces where mothers can breastfeed or express milk for their babies privately, safely and hygienically.
To be fully deployed by the first quarter of 2026, the heritage-themed pods launch reflects a broader commitment to inclusive nation-building, where care for mothers and babies is not only acknowledged but embedded in Singapore’s shared public infrastructure. Ms. Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, is the Guest-of-Honour at the launch of the Pods of Impact.
Breastfeeding offers immense benefits, providing optimal nutrition, strengthens immunity, and builds a unique bond between mother and child. Yet in Singapore, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding drops significantly just months after birth, often due to a lack of accessible and conducive spaces. By expanding the availability of purpose-built lactation pods, this initiative helps bridge that gap, empowering mothers to sustain breastfeeding even after returning to work or engaging in daily activities outside the home.
“At Go!Mama, we believe caregiving is community work,” said Vivian Lee, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Go!Mama. “What began with just five pods in Sentosa has grown into a nationwide network of 100. We’re heartened to see how this shared mission to support breastfeeding mothers has gained momentum. With 60 new heritage-themed pods being introduced into community spaces, we’re one step closer to our broader ambition of reaching 300 pods within the next two years, ensuring that mothers can continue breastfeeding outside of their homes if desired. With the support of our partners, we’re laying the groundwork for long-term impact, creating infrastructure that will serve not only today’s mothers but also the caregiving journey of future generations to come.”
“Mothers should feel comfortable feeding their babies wherever they are. By providing lactation pods in parks and other public spaces, we’re encouraging families on their breastfeeding journey and supporting Kee Kirk Chuen, Head, Health & Well-being, Temasek Foundation.
The heritage-themed pods will be placed in high footfall locations, such as healthcare centres, transport hubs, commercial precincts, office campuses and spaces frequently visited by families. These pods will also serve as a platform for collaboration with organisations, offering opportunities for brands to engage with mothers. Heritage brands familiar to families and trusted by mothers, such as Hegen, Jia Jia Herbal Tea, Old Chang Kee, Osim, and Yeo’s, will be among the first to adopt a pod in these spaces with thoughtfully curated messages and content.
Inspiring brands to show up with purpose
Go!Mama lactation pods address a critical gap in the current built environment, particularly in spaces where structural or spatial constraints make it difficult to provide dedicated nursing rooms. As free-standing, plug-and-play infrastructure, these pods offer an impactful and efficient solution that building owners can easily implement to enhance inclusivity and user experience.
As the first company to launch lactation pods in Singapore, Go!Mama has contributed actively to the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) Code on Accessibility in the Built Environment. They have designed each pod to provide nursing mothers with dedicated, secure, and private access. The pods ensure spatial comfort and hygiene through thoughtfully planned interiors, optimised ventilation, lockable doors, accessible power sockets, and amenities that prioritise both comfort and dignity.
For brands and partners seeking a meaningful way to give back to society, Pods of Impact offers a new, unique opportunity to support caregiving and connect with mothers. Each lactation pod is equipped with an integrated digital screen, transforming caregiving spaces into engaging platforms for values-driven storytelling and community connection. Revenue generated through brand partnerships directly supports the continued deployment and maintenance of pods, ensuring their long-term sustainability and extended reach.
