World Scouting and Temasek Foundation Collaborate on a New Youth-led Peace, Dialogue and Harmony Programme in Southeast Asia

World Scouting and Temasek Foundation are proud to announce a ground-breaking new partnership aimed at fostering peace and harmony across Southeast Asia through the "Young Peace Builders” programme.

The initiative and partnership, catalysed by the Temasek Foundation, brings together young change-makers and leaders from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand to champion intercultural and interfaith dialogue, and promote social cohesion in their communities.

The Young Peace Builders programme will train young people to become ambassadors of peace and harmony by equipping them with the essential skills for effective dialogue and conflict resolution. The programme, being delivered in collaboration with KAICIID, will prepare young leaders to become peace builders in their communities.

The programme will also enhance bonds between communities through social cohesion s projects led by Scouts and implement new educational tools into the Youth Programmes of National Scout Organizations. The young peace builders will receive “Dialogue for Peace” badges to acknowledge their contribution towards peace building.

“We are thrilled to partner with Temasek Foundation to empower Scouts to become champions for peace and harmony in their communities,” said Ahmad Alhendawi, Secretary General of World Scouting. “This initiative will equip young people with crucial dialogue and conflict resolution skills, as well as foster a culture of peace, mutual understanding and cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region.”

"Temasek Foundation is delighted to partner with World Scouting in this effort to foster peace and social cohesion across Southeast Asia. We look forward to supporting the impactful work of the young peace builders in their communities and beyond," said Ng Boon Heong, CEO of Temasek Foundation.

Through the programme, World Scouting and Temasek Foundation hope to inspire and engage thousands of Scouts across Southeast Asia in educational opportunities that promote lasting peace, dialogue and harmony.
