CareLine started serving seniors with inadequate caregiving support in November 2016. It is Singapore’s first round-the-clock telecare service for seniors, focusing on building relationships with the seniors under its care, and providing them with timely health and social support.
However, 60% of CareLine’s target beneficiaries are low-income seniors who cannot afford a communication device and/or a mobile subscription plan. Some seniors, such as those with mild dementia, also face difficulty in operating a mobile phone and require a simpler device to communicate with CareLine.
Under the programme, eligible seniors will be provided with mobile phones that are installed with the CareLine application for easy access to the call centre.
