The Singapore Chinese Music Competition, previously organised by the National Arts Council, will be under the wing of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) in 2020. The competition aims to develop the performing skills of young musicians, and identify promising new talents.

The competition in 2020 will include a community element to encourage greater appreciation of Chinese orchestral music. Besides the current solo and ensemble categories, SCO plans to expand the Competition's categories to include educational institutions and community Chinese orchestras.
