Assumption Pathway School (APS)
This pilot programme aimed to provide more support for APS students with learning difficulties. The programme enabled the school to engage learning support specialists such as an educational psychologist and literacy coaches, as well as to level up the skills of its current teachers.
The specialists worked closely with the teachers to assess the needs of each child and to put in place individualised plans of intervention. This took the form of in-class support or intervention in small group settings, and enabled students with learning needs to successfully access the APS curriculum.
Students with low literacy skills participated in a pull-out programme conducted by the literacy coaches. The pull-out classes helped them with their reading and language skills. A special needs class was also formed to cater to students with more severe learning and developmental needs.
