Commissioned by Temasek Foundation, “Truths About Us” is a production with a social message at heart.

According to statistics by the Samaritans of Singapore (SOS), suicide is the leading cause of death for those aged 10 to 29. In 2019, 71 youths aged between 20 and 29 years took their own lives and accounts for about one-third of all reported deaths in this age group [1] .

The “Truths About Us” drama production is part of a series of upstream intervention efforts by Temasek Foundation to raise mental health awareness and literacy in the community, in particular:

  • How to recognise the signs and symptoms
  • How to support someone in distress
  • When and where to seek help

More resources on mental health are available at the My Mental Health hub, supported by Temasek Foundation: https://stayprepared.sg/mymentalhealth.

Through the youthful campus storyline, the series aims to attract youth and young adult viewers and confront the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Integrated media channel spots on MediaCorp TV, radio, web and social media that run parallel to the drama also seek to engage youth in conversations about mental illness, intervention and recovery.
