ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute
Established at the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute in 2019, the Temasek History Research Centre (THRC) focuses on Singapore’s premodern history, its economic and socio-cultural links to the region, as well as its historical role as a trading centre. To this end, the centre is particularly interested in historical research from the 12th to the 19th century, from the emergence of Temasek to cover the Majapahit empire, relations with the Malacca Sultanate and later Johor Sultanate.
The centre’s three main programmes, supported by Temasek Foundation, are the Singapore and the Region Programme; the Southeast Asian Heritage Programme; and the Archaeology Programme for Students.
