Cooling of data centres in the tropics is challenging due to our hot and humid climatic conditions. The power density of servers are also getting higher with every new generation of Central Processing Unit and Graphics Processing Unit chips, so much so that air cooling is no longer able to effectively handle the amount of intense heat generated by the servers. CoolestDC’s solution therefore aims to employ liquid-cooled compute pod technology, in which a combination of liquid- and air-cooling solutions are used to cater for different components on the servers. This will aim to deliver significant energy and water savings as compared to air-cooled solutions, and can retrofit brownfield data centres.
