Polybee aims to pollinate crops in environments where bees cannot do so, such as indoor vertical farms. Bees are recognised as the main pollinators of hermaphroditic flowers such as strawberries, tomatoes and pepper. These crops are also the first in the pipeline for indoor vertical farms. Controlled airflow has not been sufficiently investigated as a tool for pollinating hermaphroditic flowers. Polybee aims to exploit the wake around a small-sized quadrotor drone to pollinate strawberry flowers as a first step.
