Food safety is a critical area of concern due to frequent instances of food-borne outbreaks occurring worldwide. The current or conventional method of microbial detection is lab-based and takes five to 15 days to get the results. Biopsin aims to develop an industry-standard prototype to enable rapid and gold-standard detection of pathogens in food and beverages with a time reduction of at least 90 per cent. With quicker detection of potential safety issues, this can prevent further food recalls and disease outbreaks.
