This programme supports community care partners with residential care facilities such as nursing homes or hospices affected by COVID-19 cases. The community care partners are supported with a grant to help defray expenses incurred due to COVID-19 cases and also to enhance internal systems to better prepare for future occurrences.

Appreciation of HCWs

Temasek Foundation Cares

The programme aims to show appreciation and encouragement to healthcare workers (HCWs) who are working at the frontline against COVID-19. Healthcare workers from the three public healthcare clusters were gifted with a curated Care Pack of useful items such as masks, hand sanitisers and mouth gargles, as well as discounted ticket prices to local attractions. Corporate passes were also provided for the healthcare workers visit the Mandai Wildlife Group parks and Gardens by the Bay conservatories.

Arts Development Award

To encourage an early interest in arts education, Temasek Foundation supports up to 24 primary school students with artistic potential with the Arts Development Award every year. The Award helps to cover these students' arts enrichment course fees, materials, costumes and transport costs. Students are also paired with a group of SOTA buddies who will mentor and support them in their academic, artistic, and personal growth.

Arts Learning Development Pathways for PWDs

This programme aims to develop and testbed a suite of education modules designed as a learning development pathway for Persons-With-Disabilities of all ages and proficiencies to develop their skills towards becoming career artists. The programme comprises a series of workshops that cover visual and performing arts and all proficiency levels from foundation to professional.

Temasek Foundation funds the foundation levels along with the emerging and residency levels for the performing arts.

Blended Massive Open Online Courses

NUS High School of Math and Science

The objective of the bMOOC is to reach out to more primary school students under the Da Vinci Junior and M Curie programme to increase their self-efficacy in Mathematics and Science. bMOOC is an online platform that provides self-paced asynchronous learning paths where the students can learn anywhere, anytime and provides them with opportunities to interact with NUS High school staff and students who are scholarships awardees.

Classics of Chinese Music

Singapore Chinese Orchestra

This programme provides multi-level engagement for a deeper appreciation and discovery of Chinese music classics. Veteran SCO musicians who are Chinese music classics experts will take the lead in expressing the beauty of these ageless works through platforms such as concerts, talks and engagement videos.

CPR-AED and PFA Training for Youths Under the Total Defence Badge

Temasek Foundation Cares

This programme is expected to train 15,750 youths from Uniformed Groups in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Automated External Defibrillator (CPR-AED) and Psychological First Aid (PFA) under the Total Defence Gold Badge Programme. These skills will enable them to build their mental resilience and help save lives in the community. Trained youths can sign up as Community First Responders on the SCDF myResponder app or join the People Association’s Company Emergency Response Teams (CERTs).

Da Vinci Junior

NUS High School of Math and Science

The programme provides primary school students with the opportunity to develop their scientific competencies and inquiry skills, and to encourage them to pursue Mathematics and Science at the secondary level.

Close to 70 students get to learn scientific and research principles through workshops and supervised small group projects. The workshops expose the student to hands-on experiments such as building a motorised toy car and learning the physics of flight.

David Marshall Scholarship and Study Awards

Through the David Marshall Scholarship, outstanding SOTA students are empowered to develop leadership skills and participate in various community activities.

For the exceptionally talented students in Years 4 to 6, the David Marshall Scholarship for Young Artist enables them to focus on developing their strengths, complemented by a rigorous academic curriculum. Students are put through selected programmes to stretch their potential and develop all-round perspectives in the arts.

The David Marshall Study Award provides financial support to help eligible students offset their cost of education in the school.

Developing Cultural Leaders

This programme aims to develop cultural leaders by encouraging students to spearhead initiatives that meet community needs, while honing their competencies and skills in areas such as design thinking, conflict management, facilitation, project management and empathy development. The programme includes workshops for students, local and overseas community-based stints as well as staff training in design thinking and project management.

Developing SOTA's P3I Model

To build their professional capabilities, teachers undergo courses to hone their ability to integrate and leverage the arts to teach other subjects such as Mathematics and Humanities.

Digital Archive

Singapore Chinese Orchestra

The SCO aims to enhance and link its digital archives, that has the most complete professional performance data on Chinese orchestral music in Singapore, with printed house programmes to provide immediate access to the physical item when searching for a performance. These information will be made available on its Digital Archive, making the resources readily available to scholars, musicians and the public, allowing for new forms of research and application development with SCO's performance history.

To bring orchestra music to audiences at home, SSO presented the community with two digital concerts - SSO at Gardens by the Bay by livestreaming outdoor concerts which have a limited audience size, as well as the highly popular SSO Christmas Concert, to bring the festive spirit into homes.

The SCO's community outreach programmes, that promotes inclusivity and accessibility, reach out to diverse demographics including the underserved, as a way to nurture long-term and meaningful engagement with the arts through Chinese music.

Einstein+ Programme

NUS High School of Math and Science

This talent development programme aims to develop students who have high abilities in Mathematics and Science through curated learning opportunities including local workshops, training and field trips to learn from experts in various fields; overseas student attachment programmes that provide learning opportunities with established research institutes and universities; as well as competitions, conferences and science fairs.

The programme also supports student initiatives and interest groups in Mathematics, Science and Humanities, allowing students to explore beyond the curriculum, and have the opportunity to promote their chosen research areas to the others. Selected students are invited to read STEM-related university modules at the National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University and Digipen to deepen and broaden their STEM learning beyond NUSHS' curriculum.

Enhance the Network of Trauma Support for Children

KK Women's and Children's Hospital

This programme aims to enhance the trauma support network for children. Implemented by KKH's Psychosocial Trauma Support Services (PTSS) unit, the programme will develop the trauma support pedagogy for pre-school children aged 2 to 6 as an extension of the existing "Be The LIGHT" model developed by the PTSS unit for children aged 7 to 18 who have mild to moderate trauma. The aim is to prevent an escalation of symptoms and to help the child develop resiliency. To enhance the trauma support network for children, the programme includes training 150 pre-school educators from anchor pre-schools, and 10 community practitioners as Master Trainers, and organising them within a trauma-informed developmental framework so that they can respond effectively to children during emotionally distressing events. 450 pre-school children will be supported under this pilot. If successful, this model of care will be the first evidence-based trauma-support pedagogy developed for children aged 2 to 6.

Enhanced AED-on-Wheels

The Enhanced AED-on-Wheels programme aims to equip more Community First Responders (CFRs) with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), with training provided by the Singapore Civil Defence Force. The community groups targeted to train more CFRs include civilian drivers who make frequent use of their personal vehicles; military officers with private vehicles; as well as postal workers on 3-wheeler vehicles who ply remote industrial estates.

Establish Peer Support Network in the Neighborhood to Support Caregivers of PWDs

This programme aims to establish a peer support network in the neighbourhood to help caregivers of persons with disabilities (PWDs) who are newly diagnosed or have complex needs. To build and strengthen the community network of peer supporters, this programme provides training for community leaders (CAREkaki) and experienced caregivers (CAREbuddy) in engaging and supporting the new caregivers of PWDs.

EW Barker Scholarships and Study Awards

Singapore Sports School

The E W Barker Scholarship aims to motivate talented students with remarkable character to continue their pursuit of sports excellence. The Scholarship fully covers the school fees for two years. Scholars are expected to contribute to society by planning and performing community services.

The E W Barker Study Award provides financial support to students with the potential to excel in sports. This annual award is given to students with a gross monthly household income below $12,000 or per capita income not exceeding $3,000.

This programme seeks to make STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) more accessible to students by seeding digital fabrication labs at Resident Networks and by creating a learning pathway that specifically supports the community including parents, to deepen and sustain the engagement of children in STEM from primary to secondary school.

Family Day Food Voucher Programme

Singapore Port Workers Union (SPWU)

The programme aims to support and appreciate union port workers who since the onset of COVID-19, had worked long hours to keep the port running despite manpower constraints. Post workers from PSA were given theme park tickets, food and retail vouchers in appreciation of their efforts.

Financial and Learning Support for ITE Students from Lower-Income Families

A programme to provide financial and learning support to ITE students from lower-income families through 3 schemes:
a) Monthly Financial Assistance Scheme
b) Student Laptop Purchase Assistance Scheme
c) Special Student Assistance Scheme

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Immunisation Programme

Partner:

Singapore Cancer Society

This programme provides HPV vaccination at no cost to eligible females who are Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Orange or Blue cardholders, and is aged 18 to 26 years and unvaccinated, or aged 27 to 45 who have already received the first dose. The initiative helps eligible women cover the out-of-pocket expenses after government subsidies for three doses of the HPV vaccination. A public education and outreach campaign on cervical cancer prevention and HPV vaccination will also help to increase awareness and the take-up rate of the vaccination.

Humanitarian Education Programme

Through this programme, students are equipped with effective communication, thinking and community building skills. Students also get to leverage their talent in Mathematics and Science, applying creative approaches to prototype solutions that contribute to the well-being of the community. These projects include recycled gardening and e-waste management.

Instrumental Workshops & Masterclasses

Singapore National Youth Orchestra

This programme supports young musicians on their musical and technical skills through workshops and masterclasses conducted by professional musicians. These sessions also aim to build a community of support for players of a particular instrument.

Learn-To-Play with Resilience Curriculum

Partner:

Singapore Sports School

The "Learn-To-Play" programme aims to build the mental and emotional resilience of upper primary school students. Sports School will pilot a mental and emotional resilience curriculum by incorporating lifeskills teachings by coaches during football and netball training sessions.

Live Concerts for the Community

Singapore Symphony Orchestra

SSO presented four in-person concerts including the "Temasek Foundation SSO Concerts for Children", "Temasek Foundation SSO Hans Graf Inauguration Concert" and two "SSO Concert in Your Community" to allow the community to enjoy its music.

Marie Curie

NUS High School of Math and Science

The M Curie programme creates more opportunities for Mathematics and Science education among female students. The programme reaches out to about 100 female primary school students each year, enabling them to hone their mathematical, scientific and inquiry skills through a variety of hands-on workshops. Activities include carrying out different scientific experiments, mastering basic computer coding and learning geometry through origami. The M Curie programme also encourages young girls to pursue Mathematics and Science at the secondary level.

Music, Baby and Me

Partner:

KK Women's and Children's Hospital

This is a pilot programme to study the effectiveness of music therapy in improving the developmental and clinical outcomes of premature infants in intensive care unit (ICU). The music therapy intervention will be based on the "Rhythm, Breath, Lullaby" (RBL) model which is adapted to the local context. Sessions involve the music therapist working with the infant and parents over a maximum of 17 sessions. The therapist will also work with parents to identify songs that are meaningful to the family, which can then be turned into lullabies for use as therapy. Data from the sessions will be collected to establish baseline standards and also at key developmental milestones.

The programme aims to inspire and spark students' interest in space engineering by developing skills, competencies and dispositions in the areas of satellite engineering and interdisciplinary fields.

Nobel Experience Workshop and Science Camp

This programme aims to develop scientific competencies and inspire Primary 5 and Primary 6 students outside NUS High School to continue their interest and pursuit in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

NUS High School Tay Eng Soon Scholarships and Awards

NUS High School of Math and Science

The NUS High School (NUSHS) Scholarships are offered to Primary 6 students who are gifted in Mathematics and Science to encourage them to pursue their talent in these fields at the secondary school level.

The Study Awards (under the Independent School Bursary) are presented to students who demonstrate a passion for Mathematics and Science and may need financial support.

Students who excel in Mathematics and Science in NUSHS are awarded the NUS High School Tay Eng Soon Scholarship, while the prestigious Gold Medal is presented to one outstanding student of the graduating cohort who exemplifies the spirit of scientific pursuit and excellence.

Overseas Training and Competitions

Overseas training and competitions provide opportunities for student-athletes to gain more experience in international playing standards. Not only do the student-athletes get to train with other top youth athletes from other countries, they are also exposed to different climate conditions and competition pressure. Student-athletes can also benchmark against the best, motivating them to push their boundaries and stretch their potential as they prepare for future international competitions.

Families For Life

This programme aims to benefit children and uplift parents through evidence-based parenting tips. Through ParentWise, parents are aided with new parenting ideas, helping them to be more confident in raising their children.

Pilot Programme to Study the Effectiveness of Art and Music Therapy

Partner:

Tan Tock Seng Hospital

A pilot programme to study the effectiveness of art and music therapy on patients with life-limiting conditions and major illnesses. The programme aims to establish art and music therapy as part of evidence-based standard care for suitable patients in hospitals to help them improve their quality of life.

Programme to Study the Protective Efficacy of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination

KK Women's and Children's Hospital

A programme to study the protective efficacy of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccination in healthcare workers from the SingHealth cluster. The study will measure the rate of decay of COVID-19 antibodies and T-cell count.

Programme to Train and Place Tertiary-Educated "PWDs" in Jobs in the Engineering Field

This is a training and job placement programme for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the engineering sector. The training will include job-specific technical skills, as well as the different aspects of the working environment highlighted. Employers will also be trained on how to support these employees.

Provide Better Psychosocial and Well-being Support to Children and Families

A programme to support low-income families by providing engagement kits, care packs and food vouchers for their children who have to be quarantined at care facilities due to COVID-19.

Refreshing Traditions

The Refreshing Traditions programme provides SOTA students with opportunities to participate and be exposed to various local and traditional Asian art forms such as Chinese Opera, Dikir Barat, Bharatanatyam Dance and Rattan Weaving, through a series of workshops and masterclasses.

Residential Camp for Leadership & Entrepreneurship

This programme allows NUSHS students and students from other secondary schools to bond and learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and leadership through an intensive 7-day residential programme that includes learning journeys to innovation hubs, interactive sharing by entrepreneurs and an entrepreneurship challenge.

A comprehensive study of the student care centre landscape to understand the motivation of the various stakeholders involved, with the aim of designing better intervention programmes.

Sembang Ilmu Plus(+)

Malay Heritage Foundation

The Sembang Ilmu Series was designed as a discursive platform organised by youths for youths. This programme consists of event forums organised for youths from all ethnic groups to engage in dialogue on cultural issues and ideas, to help develop better understanding between ethnic groups in Singapore.

The Singapore Chinese Music Competition 2022 promotes the appreciation of Chinese orchestral music by developing the performing skills of young musicians and identifying promising new musical talents through a professional competition.

SNYO Digital Production

Singapore National Youth Orchestra

To expose primary school children to orchestra music, SNYO produced introductory short videos for music teachers to share with primary school students so that they can have a better understanding of orchestra instruments and develop an appreciation for orchestra music.

Study of Incarcerated Parents / Expectant Mothers and Their Young Children

KK Women's and Children's Hospital

This is a pilot programme to study incarcerated parents/expectant mothers and their young children in preparation for an intervention framework development. The study is conducted through surveys, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. Based on the findings, KKH will design an intervention framework and propose a pilot programme to better support these families.

Tesla Initiative

The Tesla Initiative develops the maker mindset and pioneering spirit in students by engendering a maker culture, building required skillsets and providing opportunities for them to learn independently. The initiative aims to develop students’ readiness and capabilities to become future engineering and innovation leaders. Students will participate in learning journeys, workshops, job-shadowing programmes and short-term immersions in tech-based start-ups and high-value engineering companies.

TF Study Awards with SUSS

This programme supports up to 28 study awards for part-time degree students who are enrolled in counselling, psychology and social work courses. This study award is open to applicants who are Singaporeans and have a minimum GCE 'A' level or Polytechnic Diploma education.

The Purple Parade

This programme helps to build the capability of the Purple Parade programming office in the areas of leadership and management, and organisation and development of key events and programmes such as the Purple Parade, Digital Human Library and Online Conversations series. The programme office will also develop new initiatives such as the "Walk In My Shoes" Experiential Series, the Persons With Disabilities (PWD) Leadership Development Programme, and the PWD Livelihood Promotion Programme.

Unlocking Potential

This programme provides holistic support to artistically talented students enrolled through SOTA’s Talent Academy, and balancing with the academic demands of an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. These students receive academic support by the respective faculties through SOTA’s current programmes, and are given coaching support by trained professionals to help them explore ways to better manage and strengthen their self-esteem.

The Asia Journalism Fellowship is an annual platform for mid-career journalists from the region to engage in professional and cultural exchange through workshops, discussions and dialogues.

The programme brings together seasoned journalists from varied backgrounds and working in widely differing circumstances to live, learn and work together in Singapore for three months each year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic disruption, the 2021 programme was conducted online over six weeks, instead of the typical three-month residency in Singapore. Seventeen journalists participated in the 2021 programme, where expert speakers including 2021 Nobel Prize Winner, Maria Ressa, co-founder of Philippine online news site - Rappler, was a guest speaker.

Established at the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute in 2019, the Temasek History Research Centre (THRC) focuses on Singapore’s premodern history, its economic and socio-cultural links to the region, as well as its historical role as a trading centre.

The Centre’s three main programmes, supported by Temasek Foundation, are the Singapore and the Region Programme; the Southeast Asian Heritage Programme; and the Archaeology Programme for Students.

Carbon Dioxide Removal From Seawater

To limit the global average temperature rise to 1.5°C , this gigatonne-scale solution aims to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) atmospheric accumulations through an electrochemical process that extracts CO₂ from seawater and sequesters it in the form of carbonates. This process uses a first-of-its-kind electrolytic flow reactor, producing hydrogen as a co-product, and it can be powered completely by renewable energy.

This low-caloric sugar contains dietary fibres which prevent spikes in blood glucose levels (low GI) thereby presenting as a healthy sugar alternative that also has similar food processing properties to table sugar.

Professor Kazuo Yamamoto received the 2020 LKY Water Prize for his pioneering work in developing the submerged membrane bioreactor (MBR).

Rapid Neutralising Antibody Test

Support the development of a rapid test that takes 5 to 10 minutes to detect SARS-CoV-2 neutralising antibodies from a drop of fingertip blood. This test can be deployed outside of laboratory settings.

The Liveability Challenge 2022

Launched in 2018, The Liveability Challenge (TLC) is an annual global call for proposals directed at specific liveability or sustainability themes or problem areas. It seeks to expand the knowledge base of innovative solutions, support innovation and entrepreneurship, encourage partnerships and network building, and to reinforce Temasek Foundation and Singapore’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Temasek Foundation awards up to S$1 million in project development funding to the team with the best proposal at the Challenge.

TLC 2022 sought proposals in decarbonisation, food and agritechnology, and nature-based solutions. More than 400 applications from over 60 countries were received this year.

Utilising Carbon Dioxide to Produce Syngas

This project aims to convert carbon dioxide (CO₂) from a liability to an asset through carbon capture and reuse. This is done in a low-temperature, liquid-phase electrochemical process that converts CO₂ into Syngas — a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The Syngas produced will be at a ‘green discount’, which can then be fed into a myriad of downstream applications to produce products such as sustainable aviation fuels and basic chemicals.

Temasek Foundation partnered the World Wide Fund for Nature (Singapore) Limited (WWF) in 2020, to launch #WeGotThis (WGT), a youth sustainability digital movement which aims to reach 1 million youths on social media. The movement is a first-of-its-kind pilot social community campaign and advocacy training programme. Through various engagement activities and masterclasses, as well as a boot camp, WGT will empower and develop capacity among youths to lead digital social movements and deploy creative tools and approaches to address critical sustainability challenges.
