Parkinson's Disease Community Care Programme: Improving Well-being for Patients And Caregivers

Did you know that 3 in every 1,000 Singaporeans aged 50 and above are affected by Parkinson’s Disease?

Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological disorder that affects one’s movement, and in some cases, cognition. It can be challenging to care for a loved one with Parkinson’s Disease, particularly as the condition progresses. This is why we’ve partnered with the Singapore General Hospital and the National Neuroscience Institute to pilot the Parkinson’s Disease Community Care Programme using a community-based support and intervention model of care for persons with moderate to advanced Parkinson’s.

To date, over 180 patients and caregivers have enrolled in this two-year programme since the pilot started in 2020. We hope this helps improve the quality of life for more seniors with Parkinson’s, so that they can continue to enjoy their golden years with their loved ones.
